Since mid-June, Yunxi Botanical Garden has been transformed into a lotus paradise, with over 150 varieties and 250 pots of lotus flowers on display. This stunning exhibition attracts large crowds of people who come to admire the exquisite flowers in summer.

Visitors can marvel at various extraordinary lotuses — from delicate single-petal blossoms to double-petal varieties, as well as rare double-deck and thousand-petal flowers. The garden comes alive with colors of yellow, green, white, pink, red, and multicolored hybrids, making this the most diverse lotus exhibition Guangzhou has seen in recent years.

Adding to the spectacle are four new cultivars developed by local horticulturalist Lu Weihua, alongside eight award-winning varieties from national exhibitions — all competing for attention in this breathtaking display.

The exhibition mainly focuses on Asian lotus varieties, featuring Guangzhou's local lotus and Zhongshan's signature lotus, as well as exotic imports like Thailand's native lotuses and Asian-American hybrids. A particular highlight is the 'Golden Splash Hibiscus Lotus', the only variegated-leaf variety on display. Its uniquely patterned leaves create a dazzling contrast against the sea of green formed by the other lotus leaves.

Best of all, part of the display in front of the botanical garden entrance is free to the public. It features nearly 100 pots of diverse lotus varieties, offering an up-close encounter with these magnificent lotus.
