The 2025 Guangzhou Spring Festival Concert will kick off on February 15. Featuring a variety of festive Chinese music, the show will be performed by Guangdong National Orchestra at Xinghai Concert Hall. 

Liu Shun, music director of the orchestra, will join hands with a lineup of brilliant musicians to celebrate the Chinese New Year together with all the audiences.

Quite a few of classic tracks are expected to dazzle audiences.

In the section of the Embroidered Purse Suite (繡荷包集錦), folk songs of different styles from Shanxi, Shandong, Hubei, and Yunnan provinces will be played.

Vocalist Wang Cuixuan from the Southern Song and Dance Ensemble will perform popular songs like Hongyan (鴻雁) and Wukong (悟空), accompanied by the orchestra.

The Water Lily (出水蓮), a classic Hakka musical piece, will be performed with jazz elements, presenting a refreshing fusion that bridges traditional heritage with contemporary musical expression.

While Donkey Riding Song (騎驢歌), a well-known song in Chaoshan region — the Guangdong cities of Chaozhou, Shantou and Jieyang, will see a novelty combination of suona and saxophone. 

Meanwhile, to welcome the Year of the Snake, the orchestra will play the lively and festive piece Golden Snake Dance (金蛇狂舞), a classic Chinese orchestral work by Nie Er in 1934.

Also will be performed is Moon Song (月亮歌), which incorporates elements of Gaoshan and Hani ethnic music, as well as bantou qu (板頭曲), the ancient music of Henan province played with zither, harp, Sanxian (three-string), etc..
