The Chen Clan Ancestral Hall, arguably the most famous historical building in Guangzhou, is a masterpiece of 19th century architecture. It was a temple where members of the extended family could come to study and prepare for the imperial examination, surrounded by masterful carvings of stone, brick, wood, iron, plaster and porcelain.
